The Claremont, California-based artist carves every stool, chair, or object from a single block of wooden utilizing chainsaws and hand instruments, following “the grain, patterns, knots, and different traits” to seek out the shape inside. Just some of his references: “numerous traditions of wooden carving, each historic and fashionable; megalithic dolmens, historic collectible figurines, the sculptures of Brancusi, and the figures discovered within the work of Phillip Guston.”

I’m excited concerning the latest launch of my first chess set, a pure extension of my sculptural apply and lifelong love of the sport.
