
Heather Chontos paints exuberantly in an summary language all her personal. Raised in upstate New York, she’s a self-taught artist, a mom of two, and a citizen of the world: Heather and her daughters have lived in every single place from London to Maine, with stops in Tanzania and New Zealand, too.
We met not so way back when Heather had her personal 18th-Century Stone Farmhouse and Barn Studio in Southwest France. She and her youthful daughter and their “following” of animals—three horses, 5 canines, two chickens—have since settled in Portugal’s Alentejo, the place Heather has been creating a brand new house and energetically leaving her mark: she had a solo present final month at Artmozphere in The Hague, and Swedish design home Layered has simply launched a trio of hand-knotted rugs that re-create Heather’s work in wool.
“Translating her work onto one other floor with out shedding their vitality required outstanding precision,” says Layered founder Malin Glemme. Come see the outcomes.
